Berbatov becomes father of baby girl

BerbatovManchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov has become the father of a baby girl, hours after scoring a hat-trick in Bulgaria’s 6-2 victory over Georgia in a World Cup qualifier.

Berbatov’s longtime girlfriend, Elena, gave birth to their first child at a Sofia hospital Thursday. Berbatov’s daughter was born with a perfect measure – weighs 3, 800 kilograms and is 53 cm high, Bulgarian Blitz agency reported. The girl has been named Dea.

Berbatov said on his Web site: “There have been no complications, and both the mother and baby daughter are healthy.”

Rio to host 2016 Olympics

Rio/BBC/ Brazil will be the first South American country to ever host the Olympics, after the city of Rio de Janeiro was chosen to stage the 2016 Games, BBC reported.

Rio won a majority of the 95 votes at the meeting in Copenhagen, beating Madrid in the final round. Tokyo and Chicago had been knocked out earlier. Read the rest of this entry »

Tokyo governor: 2016 Olympics will be the last. Global warming passed the point of no return

global warmingCOPENHAGEN, Sept 30 (Reuters) – Tokyo governor Shintaro Ishihara warned on Wednesday the 2016 Olympics could be the last Games, with global warming an immediate threat to mankind.Tokyo is bidding to host the 2016 summer Olympics with Chicago, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid also in the running. The International Olympic Committee will elect the winning candidate during its session on Oct. 2 in the Danish capital.

“It could be that the 2016 Games are the last Olympics in the history of mankind,” Ishihara told reporters at a Tokyo 2016 press event ahead of the vote. Read the rest of this entry »

No transfers for Chelsea until 2011

Chelsea have been banned from registering any new players for the next two transfer windows after been found guilty of inducing a French teenager to breach his contract with another club.

18-year old Gael Kakuta, joined Chelsea from Lens two years ago but the French club lodged a complaint with the sport’s world governing body FIFA. Read the rest of this entry »
