South East Europe Oil Forum is starting in Belgrade

Belgrade is hosting the first Oil Forum of the Energy Community of South East Europe, which is starting today. The main objective is development of oil reserves in the region. Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic will open the two-day gathering.

The Energy Community, which is co-hosting the meeting with the International Energy Agency, has also announced the participation of Energy Minister Petar Skundric, IEA representative Didier Houssin and Fabrizio Barbaso of the European Commission. Read the rest of this entry »

Ukraine paid Russian August gas

gasUkrainian state energy firm Naftogaz has paid its August gas obligations to Russia in full, a company spokesman said on Friday. News was later confirmed by Gazprom, Russia’s monopoly gas exporter.

Ukraine’s acting finance minister, Ihor Umansky, said this week Naftogaz’s bill for August would amount to $667 million, an increase from July as the country increases gas purchases to fill its storage. Read the rest of this entry »

Borisov: South Stream will happen much sooner than Nabucco

Bulgarian PM vows to close Energy holding

BorisovBulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said he was convinced that there will be a former cabinet minister with a sentence and stated his intention to close Bulgarian Energy Holding, according to Bulgarian business newsblog spekulanti.com.

“I will close the Energy holding . It’s a company nobody needs. Prime Minister`s salary is  BGN 2000, and these officials ( Bulgarian Energy holding managers) get as 10 times more. I am convinced that some of the former Stanishev cabinet ministers will receive a sentence, maybe suspended, but they will get it. There are billions buried in this swamp (the energy holding) and it must be destroyed, so that we are able to go forward.
