VW разкри новата и най-бърза версия на Polo GTI, съобщи агенция Speed Press. Моделът ще се задвижва от 1,4-литров TSI двигател с механичен компресор. Мощността достига 180 к.с. при 6200 об/мин, а максималният въртящ момент е 250 Нм при 2000 об/мин. Polo GTI ускорява от 0 до 100 км/ч за 6,9 сек, максималната скорост е 230 км/ч. БАКБ – с консолидирана печалба от 21 милиона

БАКБ съобщи, че съгласно одитирания финансов отчет на финансовата институция за 2009 година банката е реализирала печалба на самостоятелна основа в размер на 20,53 милиона лева. Berbatov becomes father of baby girl

BerbatovManchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov has become the father of a baby girl, hours after scoring a hat-trick in Bulgaria’s 6-2 victory over Georgia in a World Cup qualifier.

Berbatov’s longtime girlfriend, Elena, gave birth to their first child at a Sofia hospital Thursday. Berbatov’s daughter was born with a perfect measure – weighs 3, 800 kilograms and is 53 cm high, Bulgarian Blitz agency reported. The girl has been named Dea.

Berbatov said on his Web site: “There have been no complications, and both the mother and baby daughter are healthy.”

59 small hotels in Sofia will go out of the business by the end of 2009

Fifty-nine 1 to 3 stars hotels in Sofia are expected to cease to exist by the end of the year, municipal company “Tourist Service”, announced today. By the end of September, the company received 47 applications for hotel closures, with a total base of 635 beds. Three americans share Nobel prize for medicine for research on ageing

Nobel prizeSTOCKHOLM, Oct 5 (Reuters) – Three Americans won the Nobel prize for medicine on Monday for discovering and identifying telomerase, the enzyme that renews the little caps on the end of chromosomes whose natural fraying underlies aging and cancer.

Australian-born Elizabeth Blackburn, British-born Jack Szostak and Carol Greider won the prize of 10 million Swedish crowns ($1.42 million), Sweden’s Karolinska Institute said.

“The discoveries…have added a new dimension to our understanding of the cell, shed light on disease mechanisms, and stimulated the development of potential new therapies,” it said. Read the rest of this entry »

Regulators in US close 3 more banks, bringing the total to 98

FDIC(Reuters) – Three U.S. banks failed on Friday, bringing the total to 98 this year, as regulators continue to shutter financial institutions that are overwhelmed by bad loans and liquidity problems.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp said that Warren Bank in Michigan was closed, with Huntington National Bank of Ohio taking over its deposits. It had $538 million in assets and $501 million in deposits. Read the rest of this entry »

Kraft Foods with 40 million euro investment in Bulgaria

At an official ceremony attended by Deputy Economy Minister Evgeni Angelov, U.S. deputy Chief of mission to Bulgaria SusanKraft Milka Sutton, and Mayor of Svoge Emil Atanasov, Kraft Foods – Bulgaria management opened part of the company’s new factory in Svoge.

The factory was built near the old chocolate factory and is expected to increase production capacity of the plant up to 1 million chocolate bars a day, CEO for Bulgaria Franco Del Fabbro said. The new factory will be completed in January. Read the rest of this entry »

Rio to host 2016 Olympics

Rio/BBC/ Brazil will be the first South American country to ever host the Olympics, after the city of Rio de Janeiro was chosen to stage the 2016 Games, BBC reported.

Letterman reveals sex with employees, extrortion attempt

(Bloomberg| David Letterman went public to confess someone tried to blackmail him for $2 million over affairs he had with femaleletterman employees, an attempt thwarted by a sting operation after he notified the authorities, Bloomberg reported today.

Letterman, 62, revealed this on his CBS Corp. television program yesterday. He didn’t identify the extortionist, only saying that the man contacted him through a letter three weeks ago and threatened to make the relationships public if he didn’t pay.
